Sam Suede anulat, Al Lowe se lasă de făcut jocuri

Cu ceva timp în urmă anul acesta, Al Lowe făcuse un anunţ care, la vremea respectivă, părea a fi vestea aşteptată de toţii fanii seriei Leisure Suit Larry - în sensul de *vechea* serie Larry, nu recentul rateu Magna Cum Laude, făcut fără binecuvântarea lui Al. După o pauză cam lungă de pe scena ludică, acesta anunţase în luna mai că în sfârşit lucrează la un nou joc de comedie pentru adulţi, numit Sam Suede: Undercover Exposure. De atunci, nu prea am mai auzit despre joc, iar acum din păcate ştim din ce cauză: a fost "suspendat pe termen nedefinit" (a.k.a. anulat) cu câteva luni în urmă!

Odată cu el, şi noua companie la care lucra Al - iBase Entertainment - a fost închisă, după ce au realizat de cât de mulţi bani e nevoie, de fapt, pentru a face un joc în ziua de azi. FiringSquad au stat puţin de vorbă cu Al Lowe, acesta spunând că ultima sa zi de lucru la iBase a fost pe 11 septembrie, şi oferind următoarele motive care au condus la această decizie tristă:

"Lowe did tell us that they discovered that developing a game for next generation consoles would be much more expensive than current gen systems and that they were also told by publishers that if they just released Sam Suede on the PC they would not sell enough copies to make it worthwhile. Sam Suede had been in deep production for about a year before the shut down of iBase Games and Lowe estimated they were still a year away from completing the game. So will this rather dissapointing experience with game development keep Lowe from pursuing future video-PC game projects? Unfortunately, Lowe said the answer to that question is yes. "This was the best shot I could have had", he told FiringSquad and said he doubts he will ever try to get into the game industry again. At the same time he said he was proud of the work that he and the iBase team had put into Sam Suede."

Aşadar, nu numai că Sam Suede a fost anulat şi compania închisă, dar realistic vorbind, aceasta a fost ultima încercare a lui Al Lowe de a face un joc de PC (dacă nu cumva, printr-un miracol, vor reuşi să facă rost de mai multă finanţare pentru a continua dezvoltarea). O vestea cât se poate de proastă.

Eh, măcar va continua să-şi umple site-ul AlLowe.com cu tot soiul de glumiţe. Ho-ho-ho.
