Larry Niven (Ringworld) lucrează la Free Fall

Aş fi vrut să înghesui mai multe în acel titlu, dar pe scurt povestea e cam aşa: Larry Niven, autorul cunoscut în special pentru seria lui S.F. Ringworld, lucrează la un joc complet nou, împreună cu trupa de la Alchemic Productions. Îi zice Free Fall, se desfăşoară în imponderabilitate, şi nu se bazează pe nici una dintre cărţile sale. Nu ştiu tu cum te ţii, dar pe mine începe să mă mănânce în palmă, salivând peste această primă imagine conceptuală.


Dacă te gândeşti la vechile jocuri de aventură Ringworld de la începutul anilor '90, îţi poţi lua liniştit gândul de la ele. Kotaku au reuşit să stea de vorbă cu co-fondatorul Alchemic, Rick Ernst despre proiect, iar din ce scriu ei, Free Fall pare a fi un joc mult mai orientat pe acţiune.

"Desiring more involvement than simply handing over his books as source material, Niven is working with Alchemic to create an entirely new fiction for the game, which will center around a nation of miners and spacers that inhabit Earth's Moon, Mars, and the asteroid belt. You begin the game as newly immigrated Earther looking to get a fresh start as a miner who soon finds himself embroiled in miner revolution."

O revoluţie minieră?... *ahem*... Bine, mă prefac că n-am văzut asta. Deci să trecem mai departe.

"The gameplay takes place entirely in zero gravity - the only time you'll have your feet firmly planted on the ground is during the game's cutscenes. The player starts off as a miner just learning the ropes of zero-g movement, using tools, etc. The early stages of the game will introduce the mechanics that will turn you from a fledging miner into a zero-g warrior, and you'll have real technology to back you up.

(...) Expect plenty of entertaining physics using toys like the zero-g shotgun, which functions as both a weapon and a means of propulsion. If that's not enough to sell you on the title, I have three words for you. Crystallized floaty blood.

Mi-au luat vorba de la gură. Free Fall e planificat vag pentru PS3 şi Xbox 360.
